Got all the data to input, began to input and finished up this morning. Put the training database into the server, worked on the Prezi to display in the training. Set up training meeting for next Wednesday--hopefully will have all pieces of data in place by then :)

week 8
So, hit some major snags this past week. After speaking with our schools tech department and starting to work with the corporate tech department, they have decided that the corporation was going to buy a datawarehouse, just like the one I am designing, but I am just a lowly grad student, so I couldn't possibly design one to suite their needs. Any ways, once this new data warehouse is implemented, there will be no need for what I am designing. So, I spoke with my advisor and we decided that I would continue with the project and test it out on a group of willing guinea pigs like I was still moving forward toward implementation. The corporate tech department grudgingly gave me most of the data I would need, just missing 2 pieces now, so will work on putting it together so far. Then, I will line up my guinea pigs, and over the summer try to find a school that is in need of a database storage still and offer up my project to them. Would find them sooner, but Spring Break is this week all over the area and all schools are closed.

week 6
met with technology department today to start gathering data for the program. Tech dept. may want to add in more categories for the database, like special ed and ESL data. Told them no way to do it prior to deadline for this course but possible to modify over the summer months. Tech thinks it will take a week or two to get all the numbers we need to move forward. Think the presentation to the staff members will be done in a prezi format.

After many many inches of snow the past two weeks and getting ready for midterms in another class, I have worked on two different drafts of my design document. I think the second one is finally getting their. I have also started the development of the database so I can move forward from there. Think I am going to need to take a refresher course in advanced microsoft excel--its been a long time since I used some of hte functions I want to have in my new database.
